Safety is one of our core values, a top priority. Holy Cross Health is committed to safely caring for the communities we serve, informed by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), state and local guidelines. Our hospital Emergency Centers are fully operational to care for any emergent needs, with alternate care spaces set up to triage patients who arrive with COVID-19-related symptoms. We've resumed elective surgeries with a focus on extra safety precautions, and we encourage patients to contact their providers regarding any appointments, procedures or screenings that have been put off over the past few months. COVID-19 presents with a wide range of symptoms, from mild to severe. Symptoms may appear 2 to14 days after exposure to the virus. People with these symptoms may have COVD-19. This list does not include all possible symptoms:

  • Fever or chills
  • Cough
  • Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing
  • Fatigue
  • Muscle or body aches
  • Headache
  • New loss of taste or smell
  • Sore throat
  • Congestion or runny nose
  • Nausea or vomiting
  • Diarrhea

Our Holy Cross Health Partners primary care providers will help determine the most appropriate level of care for you. All coronavirus (COVID-19) screenings are free of charge.

While Holy Cross Hospital and Holy Cross Germantown Hospital have COVID-19 testing capacity for patients, our sites are not currently serving as open COVID-19 testing centers or taking appointments for testing.

COVID-19 Diagnostic Test Pricing

During these unprecedented times, it is important for you to know the costs for COVID-19 diagnostic testing. Holy Cross Health's COVID-19 laboratory test cash price is $51.31 or $100 depending on the type of test, as mandated statewide by the Maryland Health Services Cost Review Commission. Each test conducted will be billed. Patients are not required to pay for COVID-19 laboratory tests. The cash price is the price that will be charged to third-party payers. The amount charged is also subject to adjustment if the test is performed by a government agency. Learn more about charge estimates

Our hospitals and medical offices are safely ramping up select procedures and surgeries to provide clinically necessary care for the health and safety of our patients. If you are feeling sick, have a pre-existing condition or have a chronic disease, we want to make sure you do not postpone care that you need to get healthy and stay well. Holy Cross Health's two primary care sites and four health centers remain open for appointments, including video visits.

Yes. To keep you and your family safe, we provide and require masks for all colleagues, patients, and visitors at our facilities.

For the protection of our patients and colleagues and to limit the spread of COVID-19, no visitors will be permitted throughout Holy Cross Hospital and Holy Cross Germantown Hospital, except under certain circumstances. Learn more about exceptions

All patients scheduled for elective procedures will receive a COVID-19 test prior to the surgery or procedure. If a patient tests positive, the procedure will be postponed until a negative result is obtained. At the time of a negative test result, the procedure will continue as planned. Patients are required to self-isolate from the time the test is taken until the day of your surgery or procedure. Safety is one of our core values and a top priority. If you need to come in-person, safety protocols are in place to protect you and our caregivers.

We separate non-COVID patients from patients who have COVID-19 or COVID-19 symptoms. We have the needed personal protective equipment (PPE), screening and testing in place for all patient care facilities. Appropriate testing, workforce, and supplies are monitored daily, and we continue to clean and disinfect high touch surfaces to prevent transmission of the virus following the CDC's standards for COVID-19 safety.

You may be uneasy anytime you need to visit a hospital or receive medical care, and we understand this is a more concerning time than usual. We are here for you and are committed to keeping you safe while you get the medical care you need. Learn more about our commitment to your safety

  • Virtual Care is available from the comfort of home. You can also call your physician for an appointment or to schedule a surgery, procedure, or in-person visit.
  • We are taking a phased approach to resume select services and surgeries to provide clinically necessary care for our patients.
