Tips to Prepare for a Video Visit

  • Choose a private, well-lit and quiet place for your visit.
  • Ensure your device is charged and that your camera provides a clear view of you for the provider. Close any open applications and avoid streaming (such as music or TV shows).
  • Make a list of any symptoms, chronic conditions, medications, pharmacy info or other doctors you’re seeing.
  • If possible, take your vital signs an hour before your visit. This may include your height, weight, temperature, pulse, blood oxygen level, and blood pressure.
  • Have paper and a pen ready for taking notes during the visit.
  • Talk clearly and answer the provider’s questions. Speak up if you don’t understand something or next steps.
  • If possible, try to limit other devices/apps streaming on your wi-fi during the video visit.
